Our members understand and agree with the objectives of the German American Chamber of Commerce, Inc. (GACC), which in general are to promote, develop and expand bilateral trade, investment and economic relations between the United States of America and the Federal Republic of Germany.
The members of the GACC Pittsburgh Chapter grant permission to the GACC Pittsburgh Chapter to publish their membership data in the membership directory and other publications, including on the internet.
The membership begins on the day the signed application form as well as payment of the membership fee (initial membership fee) are received (start date). The membership will run for the remainder of the calendar year (initial term).
The first month of the membership will count as a full month if the start date is before the 15th day of the month. The initial term cannot be less than four (4) calendar months. If a member wishes to join after September 15th, the initial term includes the remainder of that calendar year as well as the 12 months of the year immediately following (extended initial term).
Our Members understand and agree that the membership will automatically renew for a period of one year (consecutive term) at the end of the initial term/extended initial term or each consecutive term (renewal date) unless notice of non-renewal is provided (via mail or via email to lbruemmer@gaccpit.com) at least four weeks prior to the end of the calendar year.
The annual membership fee is due upon the start date and afterwards on each renewal date. Should the start date be after January 1st, the annual fee is to be paid on a pro-rated basis for the remaining full months of the year while still corresponding to the membership terms (the first month of the membership will count as a full month if the start date is before the 15th day of the month). Should a member join on or after September 15th, the initial membership fee will include the pro-rated annual membership fee for the remaining full months of that year as well as the annual membership fee for the upcoming year (extended initial membership fee).
Pro-rating does not affect the start date of the membership and the immediate access to the Membership benefits. In the event of payment by credit card, our members and authorized users of the respective credit card agree that the membership will be automatically charged to the same credit card that was used for the initial membership fee or the most recent renewal (unless the member has notified and authorized to use another card). Therefore, our members agree to allow the encrypted electronic handling and storing of the credit card information for the described future use.
Our members acknowledge that, when participating in any GACC Pittsburgh Chapter event or program, they enter an area where photography, audio and video recording may occur. As participants of such GACC Pittsburgh Chapter events or programs, our members grant to GACC, its representatives, employees and contractors, the right to take photographs of and/or to audio or video record the members and their property in connection with the event. They authorize GACC, its assigns and transferees to copyright, use and publish the same in print and/or electronically.
They also waive the right to inspect or approve any photo, audio or video recording taken by GACC Pittsburgh Chapter or the person or entity designated to do so by GACC. The members expressly acknowledge and agree that GACC Pittsburgh Chapter may use such photographs and/or audio and/or videos with or without their names for any lawful purpose, including but not limited to purposes such as publicity, illustration, advertising, and Web content, including but not limited to social media outlets and GACC’s websites. They expressly release GACC’s officers, and employees, and each and all persons involved, from any liability connected with the recording, digitizing, or publication and use of photographs, computer images, video and/or sound recordings.
By submitting the membership application form one acknowledges the GACC’s membership privacy policy and is duly authorized to provide all personalized third party data entered in this application form.
MEMBERSHIP DATA PROTECTION AND PRIVACY POLICY
This data privacy notice is given in connection with the processing of your personal data for the registration in our membership database. The GACC Pittsburgh Chapter online service is committed to protecting the privacy of our users. We want to provide a safe and secure user experience in compliance with applicable laws and regulations – particularly the EU General Data Protection Regulation GDPR. We will ensure that the information you submit to our website at http://www.gaccpit.com will only be used for policy purposes.

What information we collect and how we use it The data you enter into the form is collected to register you as a member, to communicate with you, to invite you to our events and to send you our newsletter / our member magazine.
Furthermore, your data will be published in the member directory and other publications, amongst others on the internet, to facilitate an exchange between our members.
Your data will be processed outside of the EU, namely the US and may be accessible to other members outside of the EU and the US.
The provisioning of your data is carried out by means of an online web application. Confidentiality, integrity (inviolability), authenticity (genuineness) and availability of personal data can therefore not be guaranteed.
Legal Basis The collection, storage and usage of your data is based on its necessity for the fulfillment of the membership service contract, Article 6 (1) b) GDPR, or, where necessary, on your explicit consent Article 6 (1) a) GDPR
Disclosures of your information Your personal data is transmitted to the following external service providers for the purpose of membership database management: wildapricot membership management software, Constant Contact email marketing software. These providers are compliant with the GDPR. Their respective privacy statements can be read here and here. We may release your information to regulatory or law enforcement authorities, if we are required to do so.
Storage period Your data is stored after collection for the duration of your membership. Statutory data and document retention periods may require your data to be stored beyond the duration of your membership.
Objecting to data processing You can object to the processing of your data and request a full deletion at any time by contacting us via e-mail. Please note that we will not be able to provide any further membership services to you without your data.
Your rights as a data subject You have the following rights according to the EU General Data Protection Regulation: If your personal data is processed, you have to right to obtain information regarding the storage of your personal data (Article 15 GDPR). If incorrect personal data is processed, you have the right to correction of such (Article 16 GDPR). If legal requirements are given, you have the right to request the deletion or limitation of processing, and you have the right to object to such processing (Articles 17, 18 and 21 GDPR). In the event of an objection, we will no longer be able to reach you as our member, and membership with our organization will be terminated. Since data processing is based on a contract, and since data processing is carried out via automated processes, you have a right to data portability where applicable (Article 20 GDPR). Should you exercise your abovementioned rights, the GACC Pittsburgh Chapter will review whether statutory requirements are met.
